Cleaning and caring for the fragile skin barrier in ageing skin

Cleansing wipes for aging skin should be formulated to help protect the skin barrier, with mild formulations that gently cleanse and complement the acid mantle to prevent an increase in trans-epidermal water loss (TEWL) and potential irritation. Increasingly important is the need to avoid disturbances to the skin microbiota which co-participate in maintaining the barrier function of skin.  Other considerations such as soft texture and without the need for drying may prevent friction and avoid further damage to the skin barrier.
