Menopause matters: steps to improved and sustainable support for our teams in the care sector

09 Oct 2024
Care Keynote
Women make up 81% of the care sector, and 60% of this group are at or around the age that women typically experience the menopause. That translates to up to one million women in the adult social care sector workforce today who are likely suffering with menopause symptoms without adequate support. Every so often, menopause provision reemerges as a topic within the care sector, however, the conversations taking place at the moment are not enough to create real change and improvements for our teams.

This session, introduced by Angela Boxall Chair of Care England and CEO of Majesticare, and led by menopause consultant and educator, Diane Danzebrink, will give attendees an introduction to three key topics that need to be an ongoing conversation within the care sector:

1. What is the menopause and what are the different experiences of teams working in our care sector today?
2. What are your responsibilities as a workplace to support the women experiencing the menopause?
3. What achievable steps could you take after today to improve the support that you offering within your organisation?

The session will include insights from the Alsico and Care England’s Menopause Matters event, taking place earlier in the day next to the Care Show with carers from care home groups across the UK.

Join us to understand the role you play in improving the support for our women, for those experiencing menopause symptoms now, and in the future.
