In conversation with... Dr Ant, The Brain Whisperer
1. Tell us a little bit about yourself and what it is that you do?
Hi, I'm Dr Ant, often called "The Brain Whisperer”. My mission? To help people unlock their full potential by shifting their mindsets. I've spent years refining my "Switched on Thinking" approach, guiding everyone from dedicated care providers to middle managers, and business owners. It's all about getting out of autopilot and making intentional, impactful changes in life. My work is a blend of psychology, neuroscience, and pure passion for helping others thrive.
2. What exactly is Switched on Thinking?
"Switched on Thinking" is my brainchild—pun intended! It's a powerful method to rewire your thought patterns, helping you break free from limiting beliefs and step into your true potential. By tapping into the unconscious mind, we make intentional, purpose-driven decisions that lead to lasting change. It's like flipping a switch from being stuck to unstoppable. And the best part? It works across all areas of life, whether you're in business, social care, or just trying to live your best life.
3. Tell us about your career so far, how did Switched on Thinking begin and how have you got to where you are now?
My career started in business, but I quickly realised that mindset is the key to success—far more than strategy alone. This led me down the rabbit hole of studying psychology, solution-focused therapy, and everything in between. "Switched on Thinking" was born out of my own journey of transformation, and it's been refined over years of working with clients from all walks of life. It's been a wild ride, but seeing the impact this approach has on people is what keeps me going.
4. What has been the toughest part of the journey so far?
The toughest part? Getting people to see that they're often their own biggest obstacle. We're all creatures of habit, and breaking free from old thought patterns is hard. But once that breakthrough happens, it's like watching a light bulb go on—it's incredibly rewarding. The challenge is worth it every single time!
5. Why is the wellbeing of caregivers so often overlooked?
Care providers are heroes, but they're also human. They pour so much into others that they often forget to care for themselves. This self-neglect can lead to burnout, stress, and even mental health issues. It's high time we start putting care providers' wellbeing on the map because a healthier, happier care provider means better care for everyone involved.
6. Why is collaboration so important in the care sector?
Collaboration is the secret sauce in care. When care providers, healthcare professionals, and families work together, everyone benefits. It's about sharing knowledge, lightening the load, and creating a support system that ensures the best care possible. Plus, collaboration helps prevent burnout by spreading responsibility and fostering a community of support.
7. As World Mental Health Day falls on Day 2 of the show, why is it so important to draw attention to these issues?
Mental wellness is the backbone of everything we do, especially in caregiving. World Mental Health Day is a crucial reminder that we need to take care of our minds just as much as our bodies. In a sector as demanding as care, addressing mental health isn't just important—it's essential for sustaining a strong, resilient workforce.
8. What is next for Switched on Thinking?
We're taking "Switched on Thinking" to the next level with new workshops, online courses, and a fresh book that dives deeper into the methodology. The goal? To make mindset mastery accessible to everyone, no matter where they are on their journey. We're also looking at more collaborations with organisations that prioritise mental and emotional wellbeing.
9. What can attendees expect during your session at Care Show Birmingham?
Expect a high-energy, interactive session where we dive deep into mindset shifts that can transform your approach. I'll be sharing practical tools and strategies from "Switched on Thinking" to help manage stress, boost resilience, and improve overall wellbeing. It's not just about learning—it's about leaving with actionable steps to make a real difference.
10. And lastly, what are you most looking forward to at the event?
I'm pumped to connect with all the incredible professionals who make the care sector what it is. The Care Show Birmingham is an opportunity to learn, share, and collaborate on ways to make caregiving not just sustainable, but truly fulfilling. It's always inspiring to be surrounded by people who are as passionate about making a difference as I am.
