A triumphant Care Show Birmingham 2024 - celebrating innovation, compassion, and community
The Care Show Birmingham 2024, held on 9-10 October at the NEC Birmingham, once again stood as a beacon of innovation and excellence in the care sector. The energy and enthusiasm were palpable, with a remarkable range of educational sessions, interactive features, and meaningful activities that captivated attendees throughout.
A joyful start
The show began on a high note, quite literally, with the second day opening to the vibrant and rhythmic sounds of steel drums. As the delegates arrived at the exhibition hall, the lively music created a joyful atmosphere, setting the tone for an inspiring selection of discussions and discovery.
Among the event’s most heart-warming moments was the Care Show Thirty Under 30 Awards, now in its second year. This ceremony celebrated the next generation of care leaders, recognising 30 young professionals for their exceptional contributions to the sector. Their passion and innovation reflected a bright future for care.
Innovation, sustainability, and wellbeing in focus
The show placed a strong emphasis on sustainability through the Sustainability Zone, supported by Grace Cares. This space provided practical advice and ideas for eco-friendly practices in care, sparking important discussions about reducing the sectors environmental impact without compromising quality.
Attendees also had the chance to engage with regulators during the CQC’s ‘Meet the Inspector’ appointments, offering valuable guidance on regulatory changes and best practices. The Caring Conversations interviews, led by Five on a Bike, featured in-depth discussions with sector experts and care professionals, offering a rich exchange of knowledge and experience.
Innovation was at the heart of the event, with the Care Innovation Hub, presented by the National Care Forum, showcasing cutting-edge technology and ideas that are shaping the future of care. From advanced technologies to innovative service delivery models, the Hub provided attendees with insights into how the care sector is evolving.
A showcase of exhibitor excellence
This year’s exhibition floor was a vibrant mix of familiar faces and fresh talent. Nourish, Blueleaf, Birdie and Arjo returned to showcase their latest care solutions, continuing to lead the way in improving care quality.
Equally exciting were the new exhibitors, including Teton AI, Trusted Care, NHC Group, and Medicare Systems, who brought innovative products and fresh perspectives to the show, offering attendees even more options for enhancing care delivery.
Thought leadership and education
The educational programme offered a diverse range of sessions. Attendees gained essential updates on regulatory compliance, design innovations, care management strategies and more.
The programme brought together well-known sector leaders and fresh voices alike. Among the established names, Angela Boxall (CEO, Majesticare), Nadra Ahmed (Chair, National Care Association), Vic Rayner OBE (CEO, National Care Forum), Dr Jane Townson OBE (CEO, Homecare Association), and James Bullion (Interim Chief Inspector of Adult Social Care and Integrated Care, CQC) shared deep insights into the current and future challenges of the care sector.
The event also welcomed new voices such as Sue Sheath (Director of Regulation and Quality Improvement, Barchester Healthcare), Bailey Greetham-Clarke (CEO & Founder, BeGreatFitness), Professor Graham Stokes (Director of Dementia & Specialist Service Innovation, HC-One), Amanda Williams (Deputy Director of Primary and Community Care, CQC), and James Willcox (Head of Sustainability, Inspired Villages). Their sessions covered a range of critical topics, including workforce development, dementia care, and technology’s growing role in the sector, offering fresh perspectives and forward-thinking strategies.
A celebration of care
With its continued success, Care Show Birmingham reinforces its position as the leading event for driving the future of care, and we look forward to building on this momentum next year.
Show Manager, Adam Camel, commented after the event:
