Hannah Montgomery

Founder - Sustainability Lead, Grace Cares
Hannah Montgomery is a multi-award winning, chartered qualified marketing consultant with a passion for social care. For almost two decades, she’s worked globally, marketing within the care sector with her work being recognised in The Times and The Guardian. She is always on top of regulatory changes and evolving agendas. In 2016 she set up a marketing consultancy firm which supports suppliers selling into social care, Golddust Marketing, which she continues to run today. At the same time, she also founded a regular monthly companionship tea party for the over 70’s in Lichfield to tackle social isolation among older people in the region. This has now evolved to become the first Grace Cares tea party group. Hannah is also involved in supporting Lichfield Dementia Friends who aim to gain dementia friendly status for the city. Towards the end of 2021, Hannah was so concerned about the state of a sector she loved so much that she created the 360° social care debate. The mission was to ensure that the right people discuss the challenges for the social care sector from every perspective, to inform and create holistic solutions within the sector. In 2023, Hannah co-founded Grace Cares and since then has become a Carbon Literate Citizen and completed a Green Advantage course with Aston University. She is currently on her way to becoming a Chartered Environmentalist and fully qualified IEMA member via The Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (which is the largest professional body for environmental practitioners in the United Kingdom and worldwide). Grace Cares is a not-for-profit run by carbon literate citizens who are committed to sustainability and the welfare of those in our sector. By partnering with the NHS and social care providers, Grace Cares rescues care equipment from landfill and after maintenance and infection control offers it to the public, NHS, and health and social care providers at less than half the original retail price. They use their profits to directly benefit older people, their families, and health and social care providers nationwide. Grace Cares not only supports the environment but also makes essential resources accessible to those who need them most. Additionally, Grace Cares enriches the local community through annual intergenerational campaigns and monthly sustainable and dementia-friendly activities. They have earned multiple accolades for their sustainable practices, including the Best Sustainable Business award from the Lichfield District Council and the Environmental Action award from Aviva. Furthermore, Grace Cares offers ESG and sustainability sessions and support for social care providers nationwide through their "Caring for Tomorrow" initiative. These sessions include quarterly webinars featuring case study guests like NHS Midlands and HC-One, as well as collaborative workshops based on work they have previously done with DEFRA (Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs) and WRAP (Waste and Resources Action Programme). These efforts are supporting the sector to stay ahead of new regulations and government targets. She has also written a free guide and a fuller workbook alongside The Caring View which is launching at this years Care Show which is the first of its type in the sector - The Sustainability Guide for Care Managers: Did you Deliver Sustainable Care Today?
