Mehul Shah, Director of Centrum Care Homes in Southwest England and the Bluebird Care franchise in Berkshire, has over 17 years of experience in Health & Social Care. He left the corporate world and, together with his business partner, Tushar, embarked on an ambitious journey to make a meaningful impact in the care sector. Launching a Bluebird Care franchise in 2007, focusing on the private sector, they navigated the typical challenges of a growing business — ranging from inconsistent work availability and staffing issues to the lack of established systems and processes. Over time, they shifted their focus from merely building a business to building strong teams, which led to achieving an Overall Outstanding CQC rating in both 2016 and 2019 as well as numerous awards along the way. Building on their success in home care, Mehul and Tushar entered the care home industry in 2018, driven by a belief that technology and innovation can help make a difference in care homes. They acquired two care homes and successfully turned a loss-making and Inadequate-rated business into a profitable operation with a Good CQC rating. Today, they own and operate a portfolio of care homes with over 150 beds across Southwest England, specialising in revitalising older homes through modern systems, processes, refurbishments and investing in passionate care teams to deliver high-quality care.
